The Last Gift I didn't give to my grandmother: A gift of presence.

Dedicated to my friend and brother, Deni Christian.

My story is inspired by my friend's, Deni Christian, story (you can find it in my blog). He shared his story with me, entitled: "A gift of presence". When he sent me the story, he was at the hospital, accompanying his mother, to take care of his father.
I learned today that his father had gone to be with the Lord. Remembering what his family has been doing so far to help and all the prayers for the health of his father, we believe that our God is a loving God and He will always give the best. He cares so much about us and those we love.

Special Gift: A Gift of Presence

Shared by Deni

A valuable gift doesn't have to be something pricey.
Lately I learn that the gift of presence to the ones we love can sometimes mean the world, especially when they need our presence in their hard times more than anything we can possibly give them.
Sometimes, nothing compare to our presence in somebody's life when they need companionship the most.

The days and maybe more days to come I would be the one available in my family to accompany my mom taking care of my father in the hospital.
Most of the times I don't do anything important.
Sometimes I just sit for hours waiting to be needed. Though most of the time I can do nothing but sitting and seeing how hard it is for my mom to take care of my father. But my mom would call in less than one hour to make sure I'm back soon.

So, how's my father doing now?
He's better than the first time he came in. But he's got not enough spirit and joy and hope to get on with his life. It's so sad.
My family and I have been praying for him.

Would you remember him in your prayer? Thank you.

God bless you.

Special Gift: A Big Hug for My Dad

Shared by Dan

Something that I'm going to give to someone for a Christmas gift is "a big hug."
Yes.. I'm going to hug my dad. I've been in a hard relationship with him. Jesus came to the world for forgiveness. That's why I have to forgive my father. Cos God has forgiven me. I'm going to hug him and tell him that I love him.

Special Gift: Sharing the Love of Christ

For me Christmas is a time to give someone the love of Christ.
A prayer book for me can be so very wonderful in order to remind someone of the purpose of Christ and remembering him with prayer. Take something to the hospital for those who can't be on the streets to see the lights and beauty of the season, give them prayer books to.

Special Note about Odess:
Odess has been my friend and sister ever since the IVEP program we joined. I was thrilled with the idea of 'a prayer book' that she's been using to be one of the tools to share the love of Christ.

What about you? What did you give on Christmas? What made it so special to the one who received it? Feel free to share your story here! :D

Blessings!

Here it is my short story about my struggling of giving special gift or greatest gift:

"Since the midst of this year I have been thinking about what gift I could prepare for my Savior. Then, I came up with a traditional dance to present Him, yet the planned has changed. But more than that, He gave me two of my friends instead as greatest gifts for Him. He gave me time to spend with them, we had food together, fellowship time today at church. Yes, they are the greatest gifts at end of year giving ^_^. "
Also, I would like to share this with you too the video clip of my good friend. I hope it would help you a bit: http://vimeo.com/81972220

    Special note about Daden:
Daden is one of my friends whom I met during the IVEP program hosted by the MCC in the USA. She is currently living in her home country, Cambodia and has been helping out with the church community and her surroundings to share the love of Jesus.

Even though in her sharing here, her plan didn't work as it planned but there was other things she could do to celebrate her Christmas with those she loved.
    What about you?
It isn't the 25th of December anymore, but....as long as we keep on giving, keep on loving, Christmas is everyday! :) Do you have anything to share here? Please feel free to share your story on the special gift you gave to those whom you love on Christmas.

    Blessings!

The gift of Sharing: The stories worth reading...

In my previous blog, I wrote on the things we plan on Christmas. The things include the celebration, decoration, and so on. I mentioned further about the 'Special Gift.'

When I reached out for friends, asking them to share some of their Christmas story, I was praying that there would be, at least, some who wanted to do that. It wasn't easy, I thought. I realized that the deadline given was too soon and the idea was too late. But, I gave it a try!

Long story short, some of my friends finally sent their story to me.  I read it first and decided not to do anything on the editing. It would be perfect to leave the story just the way it was written. My job was to pray that God continues to bless these wonderful friends of mine and to start posting their story on my blog.

I thank God and my friends for their special gift to me and to everybody, the gift of sharing.
Their stories are inspiring and worth reading!

The Special Gift to Share this Christmas #2: Calling out for the story & Reflection on Special Gift

This morning, I woke up with a bundle of hope! I thought of what my friends might think about sharing their story on the special gift they can give on Christmas. Got up from my bed after that, I began to pray, asking the Lord whether this was the right thing to do.

I remembered the feeling of excitement at that time! An hour later, I found myself sitting in front of my laptop, connected to the internet, writing emails wishing everybody a Merry Christmas and encouraging them to share their experience in giving something special, a gift, for someone this Christmas.

Before going further, I need to emphasize the kind of special gift here. What makes it special: the way it is given, the timing, and the person who would receive it.
Like me, we might have planned so many things to give out to people. We have been busy thinking of what kind of gift they like, would they like it, would they smile when they see it, would they be happy? It brings pleasure in our heart to give something special to those we love. However, special gift does not always mean a cute and unique DIY card that no one in the world can make it but us. Special gift does not always mean a new bracelet you've been dreaming whole year long. Special gift does not always have to be in form of materials. Honestly, they are good and even precious! What I mean is that it is more than that. What makes a gift special is because it comes from the heart that is willing to give without hoping to receive something back. A heart that realizes that when I give this to him or her, he will be blessed and I will forever thankful for that joy!

These special gifts, no matter what they are, will be shared by my friends on the upcoming post. Well, I've been anxiously waiting to read them!
